A Message from the President
Happy New Year and I hope everyone had a great holiday season. My name is Dr. Jay Dyke and I have the pleasure of being your 2024 KCVMA President. I am a 2008 Graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and currently work as an Area Chief of Staff for Banfield in the KC area. I have worked in private practice in KC for 4 years as well, so understand the private practice environment as well. I live in Lee’s Summit with my wife of 29 years, Loren, my daughter Brynn, our two dogs, Fergus and Piper, and three cats, Mia, Lily, and Hazel.
As your Board President, I hope to work with the other Board Members help KCVMA adjust to the needs of our members, improving upon the foundation that was built for us more than 70 years ago. I come into this role as we are putting forth significant effort to grow our Association. We recently increased membership fees to help try and cover increased costs, but that was just a first step. I would ask everyone to consider asking colleagues who are not members to sign up as well to help us grow.
I would also ask everyone to explore our website, follow our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram to stay on top of our events, and to share posts so your associates can see what we are working on. Last year we adjusted our by-laws and provided oxygen masks for pets to the Independence Fire Department. This year we have a rabies titer testing event scheduled in February and will continue our monthly continuing education dinners/presentations for our members. We try to make the topics have both information on improving the practice of Veterinary Medicine, but also be relevant to the unique challenges we face on a personal and professional level in the Veterinary Industry. We also hope to build on last year’s successful Networking Social event with the Veterinary specialists in town for another enjoyable get together.
Please reach out if you have concerns or questions. We do have our website available for Classified ads for members. We hope to represent the Kansas City Veterinary Community in line with our members’ needs and look forward to providing you a great membership experience as your regional greater Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association in 2024.
Jay Dyke, DVM
